I’m not so sure that the Bear Hotel can continue to live up to it’s old first class reputation. The riverside rooms, looking out directly onto the river are lovely and comfortable. It was a bit disconcerting to have an earwig float out from the hot water tap! The shower unit was splendid. The breakfast was OK, my wife really enjoyed the salmon served with scrambled eggs.
Very nice room with a view of the river and our own private patio. The pub was also very comfortable, with good indoor and outdoor seating. I would definitely come back if I was in the area again.

Nice pub with good indoor and outdoor areas (sun and shade). Food was good though in my opinion too expensive for a pub. Service was really good and staff were friendly and helpful.
Went there for a mid week lunch, and I was very pleasantly surprised. The disabled ramp wasn’t sign posted, but was round the back, and led into a lovely cosy room of tables and armchairs! They said we could indeed eat there, instead of the more formal areas if we wished, where I had a lovely fish and chips, while my husband had the seasonal pheasant breast. Dogs are also allowed, so one for our future list. The staff were polite and just attentive enough, so not too intrusive. The whole was a lovely relaxed atmosphere, where we could have happily stayed longer. I do wish more places would do better with their furnishings like this. So many now are too stark and echo every noise, unlike this comfortable, peaceful experience. Perfect break from the every day.

Fantastic friendly pub hotel. The rooms are imaculate and stylish .Very well equipped with everything you could possible need. Was very quite during the night. Food is outstanding with fresh locally sourced produce. Cooked to perfection. Make sure you are hungry they certainly don't skimp on portion sizes. Excellent value for money. Staff were all lovely and welcoming and very efficient even though it was very busy. Nothing was too much trouble. Extensive wine list and any other drink you could think of. Dogs are well catered for too with ample fresh water and doggy biscuits on the bar. Locals and their dogs were very friendly. We were sad to leave. Breakfast outstanding with plenty of chioce . We will definitely be coming back. Best place we have stayed in a long time.
The food was of an decent quality although not outstanding enough to rush back. The staff were reasonably attentive but seemed a little rushed. it may just have been because it was a busy day for them, with the sun shining. but based on the above I would say quite average for the menu prices

Visited when on business. Warm welcome from the staff and locals - even giving us front row seats for the England match! Food and beer were excellent too!
Welcoming inn with very tasty food and a selection of real ales. Highly recommended.

Prepare for huge portions tasty beers cold drinks and very friendly staff! Oh and don't forget your wallet as you need to pay for all this. Meal for two a coke and a beer £35. Not the cheapest but fair if I can say that. Car park at the rear. If you come from the station a sharp right after the building.
Been here for meal and drinks on a couple of occasions during the winter. With the open fire it is a great place to spend a cold evening. Very good selection of ales, antipodean bar staff are very friendly. Food is decent enough, but very expensive. In excess of what you would pay in London. Wouldn’t put me off returning tho.

Fantastic! Beautiful countryside old fashion pub, with superb food. Landlady was lovely, very friendly and fabulous atmosphere. Lovely patio area to sit in the sun, but shielded from view of car park, would recommend!
Excellent venue, nice people, good beers and excellent food. Close to the M4 so very convenient and offering great service. Well worth a visit (and revisits)
